Chat-World is a network of support; a 3D interactive island where avatars of youth cancer patients can escape, explore and chat to others who are going through similar experiences in the UK. All this within a secure environment.

Many activities that can be carried out in the real world can take place within Chat-World. For example shopping - picking out new outfits for your avatar, music gigs, driving - be that a car, motorbike, jet ski, the list goes on.

All this is possible due to Chat-World being built within Second Life®, the world’s largest online 3D world (www.secondlife.com).

The project is continually developing to meet the needs of our Chat-World visitors from whom we welcome feedback. Chat-World is one of the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust’s largest projects.

Chat-Codes

To verify that every new sign up to Chat-World is a youth cancer patient within a hospital in the UK, we have come up with Chat-Codes. These are unique codes that we issue to the hospital which then can give out to the patient when requested. This code is then inputted when the patient signs up, therefore when we get that data we know that that person is a patient at a certain hospital. These codes can only be used once.
